英国伦敦城市大学博士后职位---塑料与食物垃圾

Research Fellow – Plastics & Food Waste

City, University of London

Description

The Centre for Food Policy is a leading interdisciplinary Centre dedicated to shaping an effective food system. It has been at the cutting-edge of education, research and impact in food policy for 20 years. The Centre's research focuses on policies to re-shape the food system, systems approaches to decision-making and generating insights from “lived experience” for more equitable food policy.

This NERC funded research project reduces plastic (and food waste) by developing a decision support tool to trigger action in the food industry and consumers. Evidence concerning plastic and food waste reduction (and trade- offs with costs and environmental impacts) will be generated by updating the Household Simulation Model (HHSM). This will be achieved by incorporating plastic packaging options, household insights around packaging and specific fresh food data together with a big data analytics tool for the food supply chain processes.

Responsibilities

The Centre for Food Policy is seeking to appoint a proactive mixed-methods researcher with the passion, skills, and aptitude to work independently and help drive the project forward. The post-doctoral research fellow will focus on the development of briefing notes, case studies and policy guidance reflecting the findings of the HHSM. We anticipate the role will also support data management and output dissemination for the wider project. There is the opportunity for the researcher to run knowledge exchange workshops and webinars for in-person and online audiences.

Person Specification

Essential for the position is a PhD in a food, plastic and/or policy. Ideally you should have some degree of knowledge of plastic packaging, the food system and consumer behaviour, discrete event simulation modelling and food policy mapping and review methodologies. You will possess experience of qualitative data collection and thematic analysis, quantitative and/or qualitative statistical analysis using standard software packages. Also, you will demonstrate experience of collaborative research projects, building relationships and communicating effectively with stakeholders including for research dissemination and impact. It is essential you have experience of preparing academic papers for publication.
