Description

The postdoctoral research fellow will drive the neuroimaging and computational modelling research within the NHMRC Investigator Grant “Decoding the drivers of food choice towards sustainable self-management of obesity”. The Grant aims to improve understanding of the neural and computational mechanisms driving unhealthy food choices in the modern environment, and how these choices contribute to obesity and eating disorders.

As the successful candidate you will be responsible for the following:

  Proactively undertake a range of research projects, and contribute to the production of publications from that research

  Experimental design and operation of advanced laboratory and technical equipment or conduct of advanced research procedures

  Attend national and international meetings associated with research

  Contribute to the mobilisation of knowledge and clinical translation in relation to their research projects

The appointee will have a doctoral qualification in Psychology, Neuroscience or a closely related field and will have demonstrated experience in conducting research with participants with obesity and/or mental disorders. The appointee will also have expertise in functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) design and analysis, and advanced coding skills using MATLAB, R, and Python.
