Summary
The Substance Abuse Research Program, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral position in substance use disorders. Duration of the fellowship is flexible, initially for one year, with possible extension. Salary will be commensurate with experience and demonstrated capabilities in relevant areas, including writing for scholarly publications, familiarity with good research practices, and an understanding of ethical research and protection of human research participants.
Job Purpose
The successful applicant will join a Department of Defense-funded laboratory conducting clinical research on substance use disorders. This position is available for an individual interested in interdisciplinary research, emphasizing experimental clinical trials to develop and test effective treatments for alcohol and opioid use disorder as well as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Job Responsibilities
Ongoing research on alcohol use disorder (AUD) and PTSD, including studies on pharmacological treatment
A rich setting in which to increase expertise in designing, conducting, and documenting clinical trials, as well as to learn skills in advanced methodologies applicable to clinical trials research.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Doctoral degree in pharmacology, psychology, medicine, or neuroscience
Experience: Candidates should have a background in pharmacology, psychology, medicine, or neuroscience and be interested in developing expertise in clinical trials research involving pharmacotherapies for SUDs.
