Design of Next Generation Optical Spectrometers

Context:

HORIBA France (HFR) is the Center of Excellence for Optical Spectroscopy of the HORIBA group. As the continuator of JobinYvon company, it has been a leader in the design and manufacturing of diffraction gratings, spectrometers, and optical spectroscopy instrument during the last 50 years (see https:// www. horiba.com/fr/scientific/). It is looking for a scientist with excellent background in optics, in order to participate to the design of a new generation of spectrometers that will power future spectroscopy instrument.

Project description:

Several innovative spectrometers have been imagined and patented at HFR, based on recent progress in CMOS cameras and in gratings. The Scientist will create proof of concepts for these innovative designs. In a first step, he will create optical designs using Zemax and proprietary software. Then he will procure the parts from internal and external sources, and test the spectrometer prototypes. He will establish the performance of the prototypes, and outline the progress with the state of the art. In particular, the advantages of these new spectrometers for Raman spectroscopy will be investigated, and results will be disseminated.
