  Job Description

  Dr. Michael Andreeff, Section of Molecular Hematology & Therapy, Department of Leukemia at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applications for a postdoctoral position. We are looking for an innovative and motivated individual with technical expertise in cell and molecular biology to conduct a highly ambitious project for targeting drug-resistant leukemia stem cells.

  The task: Applicant will conduct research into the characterization of myeloid leukemia stem cells through a combinatorial study of genomic data, gene expression, and protein expression in leukemia cell subpopulations. The ultimate goal is the identification of novel susceptibility targets specifically in drug-resistant leukemia stem-like cells. Researcher will collaborate with established and committed investigators in an interdisciplinary research project that involves cell culture, cell sorting, mass cytometry, standard and single-cell DNA/RNA sequencing and analysis, and NSG-S mouse models. Researcher will present scientific results in project meetings, national and international conferences, and in high impact scientific publications.

  Applicant profile and role: The ideal candidate is a recently graduated cell or molecular biologist PhD with practical experience and excellent knowledge-base in cell signaling and cell surface proteins, and with experience in at least one of the following areas of discipline: hematopoiesis/leukemia, molecular cloning, standard and single-cell RNA and DNA sequencing, flow cytometry, and/or big data analysis. The applicant enjoys providing practical and theoretical training for students and promotes scientific collaboration within the research group, and will have excellent written and spoken (English) communication skills.
