美国德州大学MD安德森癌症中心妇科肿瘤学和基因组医学博士后职位

Postdoctoral Fellow in Gynecologic Oncology and Genomic Medicine

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Houston, TX, United States

Expires on December 07, 2020

Description

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Tyler Hillman, M.D, Ph.D., in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology & Reproductive Medicine (and a joint appointment in the Department of Genomic Medicine) at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (https://faculty.mdanderson.org/profiles/robert_hillman.html). Our laboratory focuses on identification of genetic mechanisms of ovarian cancer pathogenesis, including the development and study of novel models of rare forms of ovarian cancer. A particular focus of the lab is on epigenetic and chromatin conformation changes that accompany tumor development and therapeutic resistance (Hillman et al Nature Communications 2018; Hillman et al JNCI 2018).

To this end, we utilize cell culture and genetically engineered mouse models of cancer, as well as epigenomic technologies such as promoter capture Hi-C, RNA-seq, ChIP-Seq and ATAC-Seq. Numerous opportunities for collaboration within the department of genomic medicine will exist.

We seek highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in all areas of molecular & cell biology, biochemistry or genetics. The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct experiments to measure gene expression and chromatin conformation in cultured cells and primary tissue. The fellow will also be involved in study design, data analysis and manuscript preparation by attending lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars.

The Hillman laboratory is a well-funded, interdisciplinary lab positioned at the juncture between genomic medicine and the study of gynecologic cancers. MD Anderson is the number one cancer center in cancer care in the United States by the U.S.News and World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” survey. It ranks 1st in the number of awarded grants from National Cancer Institute. It offers active graduate and postdoctoral training programs and the unmatched scientific environment of the Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest biomedical center. MD Anderson is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Houston is the 4th largest city in the United States with relatively low living cost and no state or city income tax.

Responsibilities:

◦Use cutting-edge approaches to investigate genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of gynecologic cancer

◦Be responsible for the design and execution of experimental work, data analysis and write up

◦Attend and present at internal and international meetings

◦Be expected to publish data in top scientific journals

Job requirements:

◦PhD degree in cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology, or related fields

◦Less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience

◦Good publication record

◦Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

◦Excellent written and oral communication skills are required

Please send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, names and contact information of three references, and a brief summary of past research accomplishments and future research plans to: Tyler Hillman, M.D, Ph.D. (rthillman@mdanderson.org).
