密歇根大学博士后职位——干细胞、衰老和再生领域

The laboratory of Dr. Longhua Guo is seeking applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology, at the University of Michigan. University of Michigan is ranked #1 public university in the US and #24 research university around the world.

The lab is also part of the aging group within the Institute of Gerontology, which has a highly collaborative, supportive and diverse research environment. The lab has a strong focus on the most exciting questions in the field of aging and regeneration in two emerging animal models, the freshwater planarian and the leopard gecko.

The lab seeks a balance of both dry lab and wet lab components. The lab will use established genetic and genomic tools, including single cell mRNA sequencing, and develop new genetic and genomic tools, including spatial transcriptome, to query the process of aging and regeneration in planarians and geckos, to obtain mechanistic insights to improve regeneration in aged mammals. For more information about the lab, please visit our lab’s website: https://guolabagingreg.com/

The lab will support the candidates to obtain necessary training in the field of stem cells, aging and regeneration, and to build a strong path for the candidate’s future career development. Ongoing projects have lots of preliminary data, or are explorative, but with high reward. The candidate is expected to spearhead one or two of such projects.

Qualifications:

The candidate can either have a strong background in biology, or a strong background in computational biology. The lab’s projects can bring a balance to the candidate’s experience in both areas. The candidate should have a recent PhD, at least one peer-reviewed publication, or one uploaded preprint.

The candidate can have training in aging science, cell biology, stem cell biology or developmental biology. The candidate must be skillful in common molecular biology techniques including flow cytometry, molecular cloning, and fluorescence microscopy. Though not required, bioinformatics and computation skills are highly desirable.

Alternatively, the candidate can have a strong background in bioinformatics, biostatistics, genomic data analysis or computer science. The candidate must be skillful in at least one programing language and an expert in R or Python. The candidate is expected to spearhead large-scale data analysis to gain broad biological insight and on the development of computational methods to enable conceptually novel analyses, in the burgeoning field of spatial transcriptome or single cell genomics.

How To Apply:

Interested candidates should submit their CV as well as cover letter indicating how their past research experience, interests, and career goals relate to the activities of the laboratory. The letter should also include the  names and contact information for three references. Please submit to Dr. Longhua Guo by email (huansci@gmail.com, CCed to longhuaguo@mednet.ucla.edu).

The University of Michigan is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age or protected veteran status.
