Position Summary
The Department of Social Medicine at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill is offering a Postdoctoral Scholar position in Transgender Health and HIV research, in affiliation with the Center for Health Equity Research (CHER). The candidate will lead and contribute to the development, design and conduct of research related to transgender health, HIV, and LGBTQ health inequities. Successful applicants will be highly motivated with strong research and analysis skills. Applicants for the position should have a doctoral degree in public health, health sciences, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences (e.g., sociology), or related fields. The research focus for this position is transgender health and HIV, within a lab setting focused on LGBTQ health inequities. Specifically, they will support projects related to biopsychosocial health for Black and Latina transgender women living with HIV and the relationship with mental health and cardiovascular disease outcomes in the context of minority stress and intersectional stigma. As an active member of the research team, they will be responsible for ongoing research activities including supporting cohort management, analysis plan development, data analysis, and manuscript writing. They will also contribute to grant writing activities, development of new projects, and support research productivity of graduate students and other research team members. Candidates must have expertise in the design and analysis of mixed methods studies, including strong quantitative analysis skills. Applicants should have a track record of scientific productivity and strong science communication; activities will include publication in scientific journals and presentation at national and international scientific meetings. Ideal candidates will have independent funding support.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in public health, health sciences, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences or related fields

Track record of scientific productivity
High potential for independent funding
Exceptional writing and science communication skills
