Postdoctoral Researcher – Cancer Signalling

We are seeking to appoint two motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to work on the role of p53 interaction with immune cells and p53s role in controlling the tumour microenvironment. You will be a part of Professor Xin Lu's work group, situated in the Ludwig institute for Cancer Research at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols, and test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will be responsible for collaborating in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters, as well as contributing ideas for new research projects. You will supervise, advise and train junior staff in cell/molecular biology/biochemistry techniques and protocols, and also represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone.
It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a relevant discipline and have a background in cancer biology, tumour immunology or immunology. You will have experience in using standard molecular and cellular biology techniques, and have the ability to manage your own academic research. It is essential you have a first author publication in an international peer review journal and excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
