Post-Doctoral Positions In Quantum Information Processing Using Multi-Level Systems
The Institute Of Photonic Sciences
Description
Post-doctoral positions in quantum information processing using multi-level
ICFO is offering two postdoctoral positions to well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientists who wish to enhance their scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The successful candidates will be joining the Quantum Information Theory group led by Prof. Dr. Antonio Acín and the Quantum Optics Theory group led by Prof. Dr. MaciejLewenstein.
The hired researchers will be working in the project NeQST. Its main objective is to leverage a quantum information processing paradigm based on multi-level carriers of quantum information—qudits. Research problems to be considered are the construction of quantum error correction codes based on qudits; the efficient simulation of quantum models of scientific relevance, such as gauge theories; the solution of optimization problems in academia and industry naturally phrased in terms of multi-level variables; and certification tools specifically designed for multi-level quantum information, enabling a device- independent validation of data.
Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering.
The candidate should have a proven track record in quantum information science.
ICFO is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions related to disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions. ICFO abides by the principles of openness, efficiency, transparency, supportiveness, and international comparability as stated in the European Charter for Researchers and the European Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
Salary is offered according to the institutional salary scales.
The contract is offered for periods of 1 year, renewable for a total of up to 3 years.
Additionally, a family allowance is also available on request and after corresponding approval for people with family charges in the terms described in the corresponding policy.
Suitable candidates are requested to submit:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interest, - Curriculum Vitae, including contact details, - The contact e-mail of two potential referees.
Candidates will be assessed as they apply and the call will remain open until the suitable candidate is identified.
Candidates may contact jobs@icfo.eu for formal enquiries regarding the application, as well as address scientific enquiries to antonio.acin@icfo.eu and maciej.lewenstein@icfo.eu.
