We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to come and work under the overall supervision of Prof. Keith Channon, in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine's laboratories at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics (www. well.ox.ac.uk), working closely with the laboratory of Prof. Chris O'Callaghan in the same building. The Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics is a world class molecular medicine research facility located on the University of Oxford's Old Road campus, co-located with major research institutes, facilities and hospitals. This facility provides an outstanding work environment, with excellent core services and opportunities for interactions with cardiovascular, molecular and developmental biologists & geneticists.

You will work in a team with students, research assistants and other postdoctoral research assistants, on the roles of tetrahydrobiopterin and nitric oxide in cardiovascular disease pathogenesis – particularly the metabolic effects on bone-marrow derived cells, via transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms. You will be responsible for leading a major part of the work supported by a newly-awarded 5-year British Heart Foundation Programme Grant. Some of the duties will include the use of novel targeted genetic mouse models, analysis of cellular metabolism and bioenergetics, and transcriptional/chromatin regulation.

You will be required to hold (or be near to completion of) a PhD or DPhil in a relevant discipline (such as Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular and Cell Biology or Natural Sciences), have proven recent experience in genetic mouse models and analysis of redox signalling, metabolism, gene expression in myeloid cells, or other cardiovascular cells, relevant to cardiovascular disease pathogenesis. Proven experience in the field of cardiac metabolism would be desirable.

This is a full time appointment on a fixed term contract until 31st July 2027 funded by The British Heart Foundation and you will be based at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, Oxford.
