Position Summary
The School of Nursing and Midwifery are seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Researcher to work on the final stage of a 3-year project funded through the EU Joint Programme on Neurodegenerative Disease (JPND). This project, mySupport Study, is part of a six-country consortium (United Kingdom (Belfast); Republic of Ireland (Cork County); Netherlands (Leiden); Canada (Hamilton, Montreal); Czech Republic (Prague); Italy (Turin)) aimed at up scaling the Family Carer Decision Support (FCDS) Intervention. The Family Carer Decision Support (FCDS) intervention has been designed to inform family carers about end-of-life care options available to a person living with advanced dementia. Specific objectives included 1) adapt the application of the FCDS for use in different countries; 2) identify optimal conditions for the successful implementation of the FCDS intervention; and, 3) assess outcomes associated with the FCDS intervention.
A multiple case study design was used where a care home will be the unit of analysis or ‘case'. 12 care homes were be enrolled that provided care for residents living with dementia in six countries, two care homes per country. Further to the implementation of the FCDS in two sites in Ireland the team at UCC in collaboration with All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care (AIIHPC) lead on the Knowledge Translation Exchange (KTE) and Communication work package. The Post-Doctoral Researcher employed on this project will be responsible for supporting publications related to KTE activities through different mediums. The role will encompass dissemination, knowledge transfer and knowledge exchange activities and initiatives associated with partner countries and to support network members in achieving research impact on policy and practice. The position would be suited to someone with significant health-related research experience and an interest in dementia palliative care and/or activities to research impact.
Post Duration: 3 months
Salary: €41,207- €47,477 p.a. (IUA PD1 Salary Scale), pro rata 0.2 FTE
