Post Doctoral Associate - Brown Borg Lab

A post-doctoral position at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Grand Forks, ND, is available immediately to study cellular, genetic and behavioral aspects of age-related dysfunction. There are two ongoing projects. One study focuses on the role of muscle and inflammation in the onset and progression of frailty. The other study focuses on mechanisms related to liver disease resistance following exposure to high fat. Both projects use long-living mouse models and a combination of either behavioral, immunological, cellular or molecular methods to generate outcomes.
Compensation and Appointment: Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow,
Renumeration / Salary: $43,000-$48,000/year; commensurate with qualifications

This position is a twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment with University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Department of Biomedical Sciences. This position is renewable for one year if appropriate progress occurs.
Job Summary and Responsibilities:
The post-doctoral associate will assist in the design and conduct of experiments related to understanding mechanisms leading to frailty or fatty liver disease resistance using long-living mice. The post-doc will perform experiments, data analysis, write research papers of her/his findings, submit grant proposals and present the work at national meetings. Additionally, the post-doc will supervise students and junior lab members.
Minimum Requirements:
The qualified applicant must possess a Ph.D. and/or MD with 0-5 years of post-doctoral experience. Applicants must have demonstrable research experience in biomedical sciences and two or more of the following areas: aging, rodent behavior, metabolism, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, molecular biology, epigenetics. The applicant must have published at least one first author paper in a peer-reviewed biomedical journal. Minimum 1 year experience working with mice.
Preferred Requirements:
· 2-3 years experience working with mouse models.
· At least one paper published as first author in aging or in an aging-related journal.
· Experience with behavioral testing, cell culture and/or bioinformatics.
Published experience with mice.
