Job Description
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting career opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. This position will report to Dr. Michal Toborek, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Postdoctoral Associate will perform research on molecular and cellular mechanisms of injury to the blood-brain barrier.
Postdoctoral Associate will perform specific experimental approaches including the assessment of the blood-brain barrier and tight junction integrity. The incumbent is expected to plan and execute experiments independently, present findings in-group settings, write research reports, publications and proposals.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or other biological science and/or MD degree and demonstrate capability for conducting independent research. Incumbent should have research expertise in cellular and molecular biological techniques as they are related to the formation of tumor metastases, cerebrovascular toxicity of drug of abuse, or trafficking of HIV-1 into the central nervous system. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
