Postdoctoral Training Fellows - Epigenetics and Genome Stability Team (Prof Jessica Downs) (ID256)

Institute of Cancer Research (ICR)

Starting Salary Range: £38,607 – £40,137 per annum

Dependent on relevant Postdoctoral experience. Future progression is based on annual performance review. If the candidate has not yet been awarded their PhD, the starting salary will be at £32,844 until the successful completion of their viva.

Summary of Roles

The Epigenetics and Genome Stability Team investigates the interplay between epigenetics and genome stability. The goal of this research is to understand how the packaging and organisation of DNA in cells helps to maintain its integrity and prevent tumourigenesis.

The team is currently recruiting two postdoctoral training fellows to work on a project in which genetic vulnerabilities associated with chromatin remodelling complex dysfunction in human cells will be identified and explored. This project is a collaboration with the Cancer Therapeutics Unit and is aimed at uncovering and understanding clinically targetable dependencies.

Key Requirements

Successful candidates will have a PhD in cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry, and have experience with cell and molecular biology-based experimental approaches in human cell systems, including CRISPR-Cas9 mediated genome engineering and advanced microscopy. They will also have experience working as part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team.

The ICR has a workforce agreement stating that Postdoctoral Training Fellows can only be employed for up to 7 years as PDTF at the ICR, providing total postdoctoral experience (including previous employment at this level elsewhere) does not exceed 10 years
