Competition for a post-doc position in the research project (no. 2021/03/Y/HS4/00285) entitled “Humans in Digital Logistics”, carried out within the framework of the CHANSE Programme, coordinated by National Science Centre and co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme.

Information about the project:

The project entitled "People in Digital Logistics" (HuLog), carried out in collaboration with international actors from Poland (Kozminski University,  Polish team led by Dr. MiłoszMiszczyński), Belgium (Hasselt University), Germany (Hertie School of Governance) and Great Britain (Leeds University Business School) investigates how digital technologies shape work and employment conditions in warehouses in Europe. HuLog examines how digital warehouse management systems shape workers' experience of work and drive warehousing companies' employment strategies to maximize workforce flexibility, affecting employment conditions. HuLog combines a socio-material and an employment relations perspective to study 12 digital warehouses in 4 logistic hubs in Europe: Western Poland, Leipzig-Halle (Germany), Limburg (Belgium) and West Yorkshire (United Kingdom). This research design allows for comparison across institutional, economic and socio-demographic contexts

The HuLog project will produce multidisciplinary, cutting-edge scientific knowledge on work and employment in European logistics, advancing the debate in key disciplines and, more broadly, on the future of work.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Work under supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) (remote work arrangement possible),

support of preparation of data collection,

preparation and realization of research (in-depth interviews with workers, expert interviews, desk research)

analysis, preparation and dissemination of research results in journal articles or during academic conferences

other tasks relevant to the project upon the agreement with the PI.

Requirements:

Verified on the basis of information provided in the CV, in the application form, and in the submitted documents. May also be verified during the interview.

very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken (at least at the C1 level),

competence in Polish at least at the C1 level,

demonstrated ability to work as part of team,

hold at least an MA in social sciences, economics / business studies (PhD holder preferred),

experience with academic research and qualitative methods,

experience with academic conferences and publishing process,

interest in digital workplace/ work and employment/organization studies

having obtained the academic degree of PhD (PL: “doktor”) at an another institution than the one planned to employ them at this post or they have completed a continuous and evidenced post-doctoral fellowship of at least 10 months in another institution than the host institution for the project and in another country than the one in which they have been conferred a PhD degree

having obtained the academic degree of PhD (PL: “doktor”) in the year of employment in the project or within 7 years before 1 January of the year of employment in the project. (), the PhD diploma must be recognised in the Polish system of education,

() This period may be extended by a time of long-term (in excess of 90 days) documented sick leaves or rehabilitation leaves granted on account of being unfit to work. In addition, the period may be extended by the number of months of a child care leave granted pursuant to the Labour Code and in the case of women, by 18 months for every child born or adopted, whichever manner of accounting for career breaks is preferable.

Recruitment process

The conditions of selection and employment of applicants are in accordance with the Terms and regulations on awarding funding for research tasks funded or co-funded under international calls launched by the National Science Centre and carried out as multilateral collaboration UNISONO (the Annex to NCN Council Resolution No 137/2020 of 11 December 2020).

The competition consists of two stages. The first stage involves verifying the submitted applications by checking if they are complete and if a given applicant meets the set requirements. An interview is the second stage of the competition. An applicant will be evaluated on the basis of the Rules of evaluation of applicants, stated in the appendix no. 1, at the end of this recruitment notice.

The Competition Board reserves the right to: interview selected applicants  only, verify the information provided by each applicant, and close the competition without selecting anyone to be employed in the offered post-doc position.

The results of the competition will be published on Kozminski University's  website.

Monthly salary amount: 8250.00 PLN gross

employment is planned to start at the beginning of November 2022 or as soon as possible after that date.

Important information about the employment opportunity:

Full-time remuneration for a post-doc type post may be planned provided that during the period of receiving remuneration, the person to be employed at the post meets the following conditions:

they did not have the principal investigator as their research supervisor or  auxiliary supervisor of their PhD dissertation for a PhD degree,

at the time of receiving remuneration, they will be receiving no other remuneration paid from the funds granted to research projects under NCN calls under the heading of direct costs

in the period of receiving the remuneration they will be receiving no remuneration from another employer pursuant to an employment contract, including an employer with registered office outside of Poland
